Did you know that writing can reduce stress, anxiety and help improve sleep and performance? The power of words really can create personal insights, growth and healing.

With a focus on ‘writing for wellbeing’ you are invited to come along and explore ways to be creative and get your ideas on the page. We’ll be using techniques and writing prompts to let go and get our pens flowing with words across the paper. Who knows what amazing ideas might materialise, you’ll just have to come along to find out.

We may share work in the group if it feels right on the evening but there will be absolutely no obligation to share or read your own work aloud.

All you need is yourself, a pen and a notepad. It’s recommended you don’t use a laptop etc for this workshop. Writing can be as scribbly as you like, doodles acceptable too.

Tea and Coffee provided.

Marianne is an ex-nurse and recent graduate from Stirling University’s MLitt Creative Writing course. Always found with a notebook and pen she likes to dabble in all things writing. Her dissertation for University focused on the memoir genre but she also enjoys writing poetry and short stories. She was chosen as an ‘Emerging Programmer’ this year by the Scottish Book Trust and ran a well-received workshop alongside author James Oswald. She was also invited to read at the Edinburgh International Book Festival as part of the 2022 Scotland’s Stories project. Marianne’s 25+ years’ experience as a nurse made her realise the positive impact writing can have on mental health and this became a focus for her during her study at Stirling. A member of Fife Writes and performer at our Open Mic events, she has been part of many writing projects and continues to scribble away and truly believes writers ‘rejection’ only makes you stronger and is dedicated to never giving up.
